The piano is ready

So am I!

I don't think of myself as a complete novice. Here are my major strengths.

• I can sight-sing using numbered notation (jianpu) -- but I don't know the staff notation.
• I can play the piano one-handed, but just the melody -- I can't do the chords.
• I have relative pitch, but no absolute pitch, I guess.
• I am a professional audio algorithm engineer, and know frequency and pitch well.

And some minor strengths.

• I am good at fighting games, e.g., Street Fighter 2, and hardcore RTS games, e.g., StarCraft 1. My APM (actions per minute) is 180+. I mean, my fingers and the minds that control them are both strong.
• My typing speed is fast. ~180 characters per minute in Chinese with Wubi86. I mean, I play this keyboard very well. I probably can play that keyboard equally well.
• I am a good learner. I know what it takes, and how it feels, to learn.

However, I do have my weaknesses.

• I am not a diligent person. I can learn well, but more often than not, I don't want to.
• I have too little time, and too many interests. I play video games. I play Emacs -- that's right, play. I play AI.

With these in mind, here are my goals for learning piano.

• Play it for fun.
• Take it seriously.
